Community Advocacy, through Water, Sanitation and Health program training (WASH).

The communities we serve are very rural and that presents several challenges. Access to clean water and medical resources is rare. Preventable diseases like typhoid and diarrhoea are common because of a lack of access to clean drinking water. We also had three of our female students become pregnant last year.

During this trip, we had two team members who ran and taught a hand washing program to the students and later to the community. Along with WASH, they provided water filters to the school and the communities that serve the school. They trained students who then went and trained their families on proper hand washing and sanitation and how to use the new water filters provided. These selected students will continue to monitor and maintain this project within their communities. The Levites students went out to several primary schools in the area and trained several other young students on the WASH program.

Along with the WASH program, we also trained our student population on the Godly way to honor God and our bodies. We provided sex education from a Biblical standpoint. We also taught them basic Firstaid practices and pointed them to resources that they could utilize. Just like the WASH ambassadors, we also trained Levites Health Advocates who then went out to other elementary schools and trained younger students.

WASH (Water and Sanitation and Health) Students’ Training at the school premises.

Our vision is to empower Ugandans to live abundantly in Christ and I saw firsthand hand, Levites students were empowered to be a light in their communities. Young girls and boys found purpose in training their parents on how to prevent diseases through hand washing and maintaining proper sanitation. Levite students went to schools and spoke to other students about the need to abstain from sex and honor their bodies from a Biblical point of View.

We also got to minister directly to the sick by providing health care to both the students and the communities. The team brought a lot of medical supplies and in partnership with the District Health Inspector, we provided medical care and bibles to four villages whose students come to Levites. We also created several wash points on the school property for students to ensure that they wash their hands and stay healthy.
